Advanced Learner Loan Bulletin – May 2020

May's ALL bulletin

04 May 2020

May fixed quarter – drawdown deadline 14 May

The May fixed quarter drawdown deadline is Thursday 14 May.

You need to submit attendance confirmations by this date to ensure payment on Wednesday 20 May. This will allow us to release payments for learners with a positive attendance confirmation.

If you submit attendance confirmations after the drawdown date, payment will be made the following month.

You should also submit confirmations of non-attendance and any change of circumstance notifications as soon as the new details have been defined. This helps us to ensure that learners are entering repayment at the correct time and that their funding is in line with their true entitlement.

You can submit attendance confirmations from Friday 1 May. Please see our drawdown calendar for all confirmation, drawdown and payment dates.

If you need further information about attendance confirmations, please take a look at our quick guides.

Ofqual consultation – Exceptional arrangements for assessment and grading in 2020

Ofqual is proposing exceptional arrangements for awarding vocational and technical qualifications with assessments that would have been taken in the spring and summer of 2020. They have published a consultation to seek views on this proposal.

This concerns learners who planned to take exams and assessments this summer for progression to further or higher education or into employment. Ofqual proposes that they receive a result calculated by awarding organisations.

However, some learners, particularly those in programmes of study that are linked directly to occupational or professional competence, may need to undertake an assessment. This could be adapted in relation to the assessment method, content, delivery or marking method. Where an adapted assessment is not possible, assessment opportunities and results might need to be delayed.

This consultation may be of particular interest to you if you have learners who are expecting to get a vocational or technical qualification, or other general qualification, in 2020. The consultation will end on 8 May 2020 at 23:45.

You can find more information in the consultation document Ofqual has published.
