Advanced Learner Loan bulletin – August 2022

Attendance confirmation

You must submit any outstanding attendance confirmations for learners currently in study by close of business today. This will ensure payment on 17 August. Please check that your learners' details are correct and up to date. You will also need to action any changes to learners' circumstances by today. If you do not, your learners will not receive payment next week. Their next payment will be on 21 September 2022.

Loan allocation monitoring

It is your responsibility to monitor your loan allocation and make sure you do not exceed it. If you exceed your allocation, the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) will ask us to block the approval of any new applications.

You can use the financial reports on the Learning Provider Portal to monitor your loan allocation. You can find more information about these reports in our Learning Provider Portal user guide.

You will be assessed for growth through 2 desk-based reviews. These will take place in September 2022 and January 2023. Your funds will increase if you meet certain criteria. If you do not meet the criteria but have an exceptional case, you should raise this with your ESFA territorial team lead before the review point. Requests for exceptional cases must be with ESFA by 8 September.

Housekeeping and security

You should expire the accounts of any users who no longer need access to the system. For example, they might have left their job or changed role. This helps to ensure the security of the portal and learner data. The Learning Provider Portal user guide has more information on how to do this.

Please also check that your contract manager details on the Learning Provider Portal are correct. You can find this information on the Learning Provider Details page. This will show the information we've received from ESFA for your organisation, including your contract manager details. You can find more information in the updating provider details and contract details chapters of the Learning Provider Portal user guide.

Learning Provider Seminars 2022

These seminars will provide an opportunity to share knowledge and gain a detailed insight into the operational policy, systems and resources that support Advanced Learner Loans. This will take place through a combination of plenary sessions and workshops.
